Today we are going to learn about the exciting world of punnett squares.....named after Reginald C. Punnett.   Biologists use them to determine the probability of an offspring having a particular genotype. 

We will watch and take notes using the Amoeba Sisters video on punnett squares and then practice with some alien plant examples.  

DNA Structure and Function

HW:  Dual Coding Practice and Family Traits

Today in class we will be investigating the structure of DNA.   Students will create an edible model of DNA to learn the structure and components.  We will also spend time observing the human traits that DNA is responsible for.  

Mitosis Models

January 19th and 20th

Students finished plant phenotype and genotype worksheets 1 and 2.  After, they reviewed the phases of mitosis.   We then discussed a study technique called retrieval practice.

HW:  Retrieval Practice (15 minutes)  You will need to have proof of the practice.  It can be pictures or written notes....your choice. Review the video above if you are unsure of what to do.

Today in class we will continue learning about our alien friends.  We will read about heredity and take notes.  After finishing the questions, we will start to investigate types of genes.
